Corrugated Polypropylene in Packaging
Corrugated polypropylene, or corrugated plastic, is a fantastic option for packaging, which is just one of its varied uses. In manufacturing or industrial environments, it’s ideal as packaging material.
Why is it ideal?
Due to its unique structure, corrugated polypropylene works well as packaging material. This type of plastic is a resin that is extruded into lightweight sheets, which are comprised of two flat pieces with evenly distributed channels (or flutes) sandwiched in between each sheet. This design makes the material extremely durable and flexible. These traits allow the sheets to be manipulated for use as packaging material and effectively absorb shock as packages are shipped.
When compared to traditional packaging, corrugated polypropylene takes up much less space and is lighter, leading to lower shipping and handling costs. It is also fully recyclable or can be reused.
How can it be used?
When used for packaging, corrugated polypropylene is most often used in industrial and manufacturing environments, but can be used in a variety of industries, such as agriculture. When used, smaller sheets are placed between products and larger sheets are placed between layers of products. Sheets can be used in single packages or in larger orders that come in pallets. The versatility of the material also allows for it to be stapled, stitched, or cut to shape for packing requirements.
